The Cherratta Microgrid Project – Karratha Western Australia
The Cherratta Microgrid Deployment project will be delivered with our partners developing and testing innovative technology, and techniques, that will work safely, effectively, and efficiently in a high heat, humidity and cyclonic environment’s. Lead by the University of Western Australia through the Future Battery Industry CRC, the Cherratta Micro Grid project has a budget of A$7.3m and will run for the next 3.5 years.
The project is broken into three sub projects:
Project One
Project One includes the design, delivery and maintenance of two microgrids. The microgrid infrastructure will include the use of Solar Panels, Solar Inverter’s, Vanadium Redox Flow Batteries (VRFB), backup power generation, access to off grid water and Microgrid power offset solutions within the Horizon Power Network.
The project will deliver practical, innovative, renewable energy solutions for use in high heat Island, Fringe, Off grid and Embedded network environments. Project One will be operated and managed by Ensave Pty Ltd, with the assistance of the team at Cherratta Lodge. Horizon Power
Project Two
Project Two is being delivered by Magellan Power, and focuses on Microgrid Monitoring, including the design and delivery of an Australian, fit for purpose Microgrid Controller.
Project Three
Project Three focuses on the design, and implementation of grid interfacing power electronics.
